Has Anyone Found Out They Have Osteonecrosis (dying Bone) Anyplace Besides Their Jaw? Was There Anything Specific You Do To Manage It?
I have a torn meniscus in my right knee and the Dr's are promising me I'll need a knee replacement someday. I am in remission for MM, but I also have osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. At a Dr's appt today, partly to determine how stable my bones would be to do the knee replacement, an x-ray revealed that I have some osteonecrosis. (I am waiting a while before doing the replacement, but we are monitoring how my knee is doing.) So - if you've been diagnosed with osteonecrosis (someplace besides… read more
Retina Changes In The Eye
Does anyone know the incidence of retinal tears, holes and detachments w myeloma patients and whether it’s the para protein or lenalidomide that increases one’s risk?
We have asked Dana-Farber oncologist And he really didn’t know nor did the Mass eye ear retina specialist
However, I have found many articles from retina journals and others that describe a relationship between each
I am wondering what experience any of you have had
Janet,
I have read many articles about how MM affects the eyes. I just don’t think some doctors stay up to date and read.
Hello. QQ. Has Anyone Experienced Excessive Sweating During Their MM Treatments? I Take Dexamethasone, POMALYST And Daratumumab. Thank You.
When I am sleeping, I wind up changing my night shirt at least 4-times per evening, and then I sweat profusely randomly throughout the day. My Oncologist says she is not familiar with sweating being related to Cancer, however, I have read that (1) Diabetic Hypoglycemia (caused by the Steroids) might be an issue, and that (2) Neuropathy (which I have in both legs) can create the same problem, or (3) Endocarditis with the heart, or perhaps it’s just (4) General Anxiety Disorder. Is there any… read more

A Gowing, Tight Tummy
In the last few days, someone spoke about their tummy growing round and protruding. They had a name for it. I don't know who spoke about it. We have been blaming my husband's 'pregnant belly' on Dara, but if this is actually something else, we'd like to know. It bothers him quite a bit. First, he just doesn't like it! He has trouble bending over...pushes on his lungs, making it hard to breath. His clothes don't fit, I'm not a skinny girl , so I get it, but the breathing is worrisome.
Steroids! Ask to drop the dose. See an endocrinologist.

Does MM Affect The Eyes?
I am having recurrent Post Vitreous Detached of the Retina. I get flashing in my eyes. The Retina Specialist thinks it is from my past high corticosteroid use. I really don’t want to go blind.
I just had an eye exam yesterday
I’m 66.9yrs old and my sight hasn’t changed in 8 years
