Hello. QQ. Has Anyone Experienced Excessive Sweating During Their MM Treatments? I Take Dexamethasone, POMALYST And Daratumumab. Thank You.
When I am sleeping, I wind up changing my night shirt at least 4-times per evening, and then I sweat profusely randomly throughout the day. My Oncologist says she is not familiar with sweating being related to Cancer, however, I have read that (1) Diabetic Hypoglycemia (caused by the Steroids) might be an issue, and that (2) Neuropathy (which I have in both legs) can create the same problem, or (3) Endocarditis with the heart, or perhaps it’s just (4) General Anxiety Disorder. Is there any… read more

Thank you Paula and Mark for your insights. Extremely helpful and much appreciated. I have an appointment with my Oncologist tomorrow and I will add your experiences to the list of possible explanations. Enjoy the remainder of your day!!
Wicked night sweats were a symptom I encountered in October 2022 along with other strange ones. I soaked the bed so bad I blamed it on the puppy. I was drenched. Within 2 weeks diagnosed with full blown MM.
That said I now experience enough perspiration to change my T shirt after monthly chemo infusions. I get dexamethasone, Darzalex FasPro and 2 Benadryl’s at 9:30am and I’m home by 11. The Benedryl makes me so drowsy I sleep for 3 hours, from noon to 3pm. The room is not hot, we like it cold! So I’m not sure which one causes the sweating.
I was taking a high corticosteriod and starting sweating profusely, like I was a professional basketball player. Just doing a little yard work on a cool day and sweat was pouring off my head and face. I never used to sweat. It turns out the high corticosteroid cause me to have Iatrogenic Cushing's disease. I affected my adrenals glands and now I do not produce DHEA. DHEA is the "fountain of youth". The steroid cause me to have significant pericardial fat around my heart and I suffered a heart attach in 2021. All the fat from my arms and legs went to my belly. I looked anorexic AND pregnant. It also affected my skin. It's now super dry and crepey. I lost a lot of my hair and it has taken a few years to get thick again. Oncologists always prescribe steroids, but should stress the side effects. Another cause for sweating could be tumors. They produce a lot of heat. Have you had a scan recently?
