My pelvis has been deteriorating and now I believe is fractured. Lots of pinching pain. There is more pain trying to change position while lying down.

Paula, I understand what you’re saying it’s like opening Pandora’s box. You what to know & yet you don’t. God bless you & prayers help. Sometimes it feels like there not heard, but we just have to have faith!

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
Bob,
At last diagnosis I am Smoldering. I had a fracture on the right side of my pelvis/hip in 2020, which is how I found out I was MGUS. No trauma for either incident. I have severe osteoporosis, so this pain has been coming on for a few weeks. I saw an Orthopedic Oncologist 6 months ago and asked about kyphoplasty , but he said there was nothing he could do. I don’t know if this is from MM. of course I’m worried it has moved me to MM. I will contact my Oncologist Monday.

My hip fracture on Mar. 19 this year was what led to my MM diagnosis. I took some prednisone for three days, but that was the only treatment for the fracture. I used crutches and a cane for 4 or 5 weeks after. Since then I’ve gone through 4 cycles of induction therapy with the 4-drug panel and monthly Zometa. I’m in remission, and I feel great. Stem cell transplant is next in a month or two. My left pelvis is still a little tender at times, but I’m not in pain.

Paula,
Have you tried collagen?
Sounds like chemo dried up synovial fluids causing bone on bone pain.
Amitriptyline. Amitriptyline is one of the most useful medications for managing pelvic pain because it helps several different symptoms at once.
Supplements such as glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and turmeric have been shown to support joint health and reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis.

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
Hi Erin, I had a CAT scan that showed that my pelvis is deteriorating. I have osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and SMM, which greatly affect it. I see my Oncologist in December, so we will see if she will move up the date of my PET scan. Some days I don’t notice it that much and others I do. I’m grateful it’s not too bad yet and that I can still drive and walk.
