I found out I had MM by fluke when my rheumatoid arthritis doc did a I I found out I had MM after my rheumatologist did a raft of new blood tests.15 months ago. I had no symptoms and was feeling pretty darned fine for a 67 year old man
I did 16 weeks of induction chemo and felt really lousy throughout (nausea, sleeplessness, no energy, brain fog, etc)
The stem cell transplant last November really knocked the stuffing out of me. Felt like crap for a couple of months. I started to feel… read more

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer (my “practice cancer”) a year before MM. I finished radiation treatment 6 months before MM. The side effects of the treatment (difficulty urinating, etc). Are still making life difficult.
Good luck Rick

Sorry to hear about the pain and suffering. I can relate to most but not all. I do not take any MM Meds and I remain Cancer Free.

There’s things that may help you stay in Remission. A year ago I changed to a Plant Based Diet and I added a Significant amount of Supplements.

I did not have a Stem Cell collection and no SCT Transplant.

Take a look at my Story @A MyMyelomaTeam Member. I’ll be glad to discuss details with you.

For myself I’ll never take MM Meds while I’m in Remission and if I ever have a future MM Activity, I’ll only take MM Meds for a month or two.

My quality of life is better than ever. My Labs are the best in 40+ years.

Their treatment Plans for MM typically lead to gross over medication.

I’m sorry to say that your Transplant has actually compromised your immune system but it may be possible, with a high quality Plant Based Diet and proper Supplements to help you avoid future issues.
