In light chain multiple myeloma, the serum free light chain (FLC) ratio is an important diagnostic criterion. Typically, the FLC ratio is calculated as kappa to lambda. A normal kappa to lambda ratio ranges from 0.26 to 1.65.

In light chain multiple myeloma, the serum free light chain (FLC) ratio is an important diagnostic criterion. Typically, the FLC ratio is calculated as kappa to lambda. A normal kappa to lambda ratio ranges from 0.26 to 1.65.

- Kappa to Lambda Ratio: If this ratio is within the normal range, it generally indicates no significant imbalance.
- Lambda to Kappa Ratio: If you calculate the inverse (lambda to kappa) and find it high, it suggests an imbalance favoring lambda chains.

For a specific diagnosis, a serum free light chain ratio of 100 or more (kappa to lambda or vice versa) is used to diagnose light chain multiple myeloma. If you have concerns about your results, it's best to discuss them with your healthcare provider for accurate interpretation and guidance.
