I Have A Question About My Mom’s Relapse. I Will Put More Information In The Details.

My mom had a stem cell transplant 5.5 years ago. She has relapsed. She’s been on revlimed since transplant and now they want to DPd (Daratumumab + Pomalidomide + Dexamethasone). Her kappa/lambda ratio is 6.8. She’s also having a T-cell infusion.
Could someone give me the honest truth on how bad this is?

Hi Amy. I too got 5 years after my stem cell transplant. I relapsed and did the DPD until I developed an unrelated(?) blood infection. But the treatment knocked my numbers down enough to skate by for a while. I'm now also scheduled for CAR-T therapy.[mid Jan.'25] I'm viewing it as our best avenue for a total cure down the road. You ask for the truth on how bad it is for your mom. The truth is it appears to be different for everyone. A positive attitude and prayers have gotten me through the tough times. Stay positive and I will pray for your mom, and you. God bless!

Relapse after 5.5 years post-stem cell transplant is not uncommon in myeloma, as the disease often returns despite initial remission. The kappa/lambda ratio of 6.8 indicates an imbalance, suggesting active disease. The proposed DPd regimen (Daratumumab, Pomalidomide, and Dexamethasone) is a strong treatment option for relapsed myeloma and has shown effectiveness in many cases. While relapse is serious, this treatment plan offers hope for disease control.
