What Are Deletions
It’s a deletion of a segment of certain chromosomes. The segment may be translocated to another chromosome, which creates an abnormality. A typical pattern is a deletion of the variable segment of the chromosome. Depending on the chromosome, it may make the MM more aggressive, from slightly aggressive to extremely aggressive.
Look at the post I mentioned earlier about deletions. I have a (11;14)(q13;q32) translocation, or abnormality in my chromosomes. What that means is that the cytogenetic abnormality refers to the translocation of the long arm (q13) of chromosome 11 and the long arm (q32) of chromosome 14. So, portions of those chromosomes are deleted and translocated. There are 15 different variants of the t(11;14) translocations that are deletions of variable or constant segments. Gene study is extremely complex. It’s not completely known what causes these abnormalities. It could be genetic, or environmental, or a combination of both. After all, we are exposed all our life to chemicals that cause cancer.
Yes it is part of the study
Of course I have the 2 markers making it hard to treat but guess what I am doing great 4 years from diagnosis
They never replaced it. There was a branch that caused a hole and rain did leak into the crawl space. It was an ongoing issue bc the maintenance guy just did simple repairs but it still was a problem.
Working in the Aerospace industry, I was exposed to a number of chemicals. Chemicals such as MEK (Methyl Ethyl Keytone), which is known to cause cancer. In the 1950s we also used DDT, for mosquito control. In addition, as a pilot, flying at higher altitudes, I was also exposed to higher levels of radiation.
