Hi All. Gotta Problem With Weight Gain. I Am Now 40 Pounds Up From When I Started To Take The Dexamethasone 10 Months Ago.

They told me this is normal for dex but 40 pounds and no sense if it stopping. It seems to be exactly one paond going per week. Very consistent. My eating habits have not changed in fact I probably eat a bit less with all the side effects going on. Has anyone out there experienced this level of weight gain from steroids and did it go away when you stopped?.

I had a similar experience with dexamethasone weight gain. I gained 40 lbs and went on a diet that my physical therapist recommended and lost it all. Diet and exercise helped me lose weight. I walked, I joined the ymca and it took about a year to come off.

This is a side affect of the dex. Some doctors will lower the Dex. Talk to them about. They will explain the situation. God bless. This will pass then another treatment will be tried. I know they have new drugs in the process that stops cancer. New treatments and grat results. God bless you.

Hey everyone, thanks for your experiences and opinions. Can't wait to see how much magically comes off and how much has to be worked off.

I had the same problem with Dex. I ate like a pig and never felt satisfied. I gained 30 pounds and had the “moon face” that comes along with steroid use. Once I was taken off Dex, I lost a little weight, but not all of it. I changed to a whole food plant based diet a few months ago and the weight is finally melting off.
Cancer treatment can be tough but when you don’t feel like yourself with all that weight gain, it is even harder.

Yes, I'm afraid, so😰 I've managed to get 30 pounds off. Still need to lose 10 or 12 pounds. They let me stop the dexamethasone. Eating lots of vegetables and watching my carb intake has helped. Good luck🥰
