I Am In Remission. Everyone I Talk To Is On Maintenance. My Dr Does Not Believe In It. Anyone Else Not Doing Maintenance?
Lots of debates with risks. I've been on Revlimid for 16 years. When I'm sick (flu etc) I go off such that my body can fight the infection. I also take one month a year off to help my body cleanse itself. I once took 2 months off went to Puerto Rico and felt like I was cured( sun food etc) and my numbers went through the roof. Figure the longer you are alive with the disease your body immune system is definitely helping fight the cancer. But, the fact that you have the cancer is why you need to be on the meds. I'm a believer
My husband has been off maintenance since May 2021 and his labs have not changed. He was on Revlimid for one year after treatment, but a health issue required stoping Revlimid, and he is no longer on any maintenance. I'm not saying that's good or bad, as every case is different.
I am just on blood thinners as at end of treatment they kept me on tablets for infections ect. They made me ill lost weight and ended up on a DNR so stopped and improved.I think treatment is brutal.
I think it is a good thing that you are not on maintenance, giving your body a break from all those poisons. As long as blood work is continued to monitor your MM. I am technically on a 1-month break, my Dr. felt I needed a break from the medicine. I will have labs in about 1 month & hopefully I am still stable.
