Acyclovir is an antiviral that helps prevent various viral infections such as shingles. If the doctor prescribes it take it by all means! I take it every day. Best wishes!

Myeloma and it's treatments make us more prone to shingles. So, Acyclovir or Valtrex is recommended

Indeed! All of our choices in dealing with this are our decisions based on what out doctors advise. It's difficult but we got this!

My doctor has me on Valtrex. I got shingles even before I knew I had myeloma. I've had both Shingrix shots. He tells me I'm still prone to getting shingles. So I take the Valtrex. I could not get relief from the pain from Shingles. It's a personal decision.
