I was told by two seperate oncologist's that the shingles shots( the later and newer ones) are not reliable.
I appreciate all the other answers.

Recently saw my specialist recently. He said acyclovir is nearly 100% effective in preventing shingles while shots nearly 95%. I will continue on the pills and skip the shots.
By the way, I am still in remission and coming up on my first birthday this Saturday, March 30th. Hard to believe it has been a year since my SCT.

My GERD has gotten really bad and I've made all the lifestyle changes, but still being kept awake coughing. Now, I'm thinking it might be the acyclovir. I'm going to change the timing on that to take with food. AND, next visit with oncology team, ask if I can stop it. I'm 14 months past SCT and have had both new shingles vaccinations. Thanks for the question and all the answers.
