I have been on acyclovir 400 mg twice a day since July 2015 for shingles. So far I have not gotten shingles.

I got Covid in June. They had me delay treatment for a week. I did have an uptick on my labs. I'm not sure if it was myeloma or covid making my labs go up. Myeloma is a marathon, not a sprint. There are going to be many times when we have to delay treatment. Infections, surgeries, etc. Anyway, you will be fine. I do think it's a good idea to keep up with our vaccines. My Covid symptoms were very mild. My husband, who did not get his last vaccine, was bedridden for 3 or 4 days

It depends. Everyone’s MM is different. First I hope you’re feeling better and if so you will resume treatment soon. I was off treatment till we figured what caused small strokes. Then I was taken off meds for 2 years now.

I was put on Acyclovir also; from the beginning and probably for a long time. I'm predisposed to herpes simplex and it was also originally prescribed to prevent mouth sores from chemo. I found out about the shingles part long afterwards; good bonus!!

I know some don't trust vaccines. I have to take a chance and have. I need COVID/flu shots, because my immunity is low and I don't want to be sicker because I didn't take a chance with a shot. Thanks for the reminder; tomorrow I have to call and make sure I get a shot while I'm seeing my GP....would like to get RSV too, but it's not available in my Medical Group. I don't know why.
