Hi curt! yes, fatigue does go away, but it can take 2-3 years after SCT.in my experience. A day, week, month at a time! Im sure you'll notice significant improvement over the next year! Rest when you're tired - dont push through i! It will happen!

Curt, it has been 1yr since my SCT. I still experience in my opinion a lot of fatigue/tiredness. I am in remission but have bad anemia and low red blood cell counts. I have had 4 blood infusions since and always feel a bit better after but I still have fatigue. I'm working with my oncologist to determine why my red cell count is always low. I was tested for iron and it was critical low. Had an iron infusion and that put my iron count back to normal and helped a bit with the fatigue. I'm currently setting up a colonoscopy to verify all is ok there. I also just had a full MM panel done. Results 10 days from now. Although I try to exercise as much as I can it's tough for me. I developed severe neuropathy in both feet from chemo(velcade). I use a cubi (stationary pedal device) and a stationary bike daily which I believe helps. I literally most of the time have to push myself to do it😊. Everyone from the research I've done experiences different levels of fatigue with MM. Strongly recommend to tell ur oncologist about ur level of fatigue. I do take naps throughout the day and am early to bed and an early riser😊. I love my naps😂. I am very lucky to have a significant other who does anything for me. I would be in assisted living without her. Good luck Curt, wishing u the best

Even in maintenance treatment I experience fatigue and tiredness. I’ve been in treatment now for six years. It’s worse for a couple of days after treatment. My oncologist just changed my treatment from the Ninlaro pill to Kyprolis infusions, due to a rise in cancer cell count. I’ve had Kyprolis before. However, the current Kyprolis infusions are increased at a higher dosage. My fatigue is even worse now. It feels more like induction treatment and not maintenance treatment.

Per Dr. Google:

Fatigue is a common side effect of lenalidomide (Revlimid®), a cancer treatment that can also cause anemia. Anemia can lead to fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath. Lenalidomide can also cause a decrease in white blood cells and platelets, which can increase the risk of bleeding and infection.

Fatigue is also a direct side effect of certain multiple myeloma medications. These include: Immunomodulatory drugs such as lenalidomide (Revlimid) and pomalidomide (Pomalyst) Proteasome inhibitors such as bortezomib (Velcade), carfilzomib (Kyprolis), and ixazomib (Ninlaro)Feb 7, 2024
