Supplements For Cancer: L-glutamine For Neuropathy

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lee, MA

Since peripheral neuropathy, or nerve damage, is a common side effect of MM treatments, I keep reading that L-glutamine may reduce the effects of nerve damage, especially in the feet.

I’ve read several posts here where members are taking this vitamin and I would like to know 1) your drs opinion on this supplement and 2) if it really has helped you gain back some of the feelings in your feet. Thanks!

Jamie,
I don’t know about L-glutamine, but my doctor recommended Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements. My mom who had Ovarian Cancer and had 30 strong treatments , never got neuropathy, which is common. She took many tablespoons of Nutritional Yeast everyday.
It has lots of B vitamins. My neuropathy has gotten better since I’ve been taking 2 teaspoons a day. In fact, I’ve forgotten about it.

Yes. I like Bob’s Red Mill best because it’s not bitter and it mixes well with juice or your choice of dairy. My daughter actually takes it in pill form. She doesn’t want anything in her drinks.
