Greetings from Alaska as a young man, your oncologist should be throwing the kitchen sink at you and making sure that you have a great chance of total remission. For us older people who have other issues sometimes we don’t get an oncologist that want to put a lot of time into us. The question I asked you young man is your oncologist against the fact that you indulge in marijuana. My number one suggestion to you is if you can’t advocate for yourself find a social worker who can help you find a new oncologist. I wish you well hopefully you find that person that will work with you. God bless you and may things improved.

I say a lot have standard protocol and don’t think outside the box. I do research here and on the internet and then ask my oncologist about options I’m interested and he is good about giving me his opinion and sometimes the option to try. Not sure in your case if your oncologist is just not forthcoming. But you need to make sure you have an oncologist you are comfortable with. Wishing you best of luck. You deserve answers and to be treated well. 👍

Yes. Use your rights as a patient and insist that they talk to you straight. Dint let them intimidate you. You have a right to know what’s going on with your own treatment !

It's important to have open communication with your oncologist, especially when it comes to discussing treatment options for multiple myeloma. Shared decision-making is a critical part of effective healthcare. If your oncologist isn't discussing treatment options with you, it might be helpful to:

- Ask Direct Questions: Inquire about the available treatment options and the reasons behind their recommendations.
- Express Your Priorities: Let your doctor know what's most important to you, such as achieving remission, avoiding side effects, or maintaining your lifestyle.
- Seek Clarification: Ask about the goals, effectiveness, and potential side effects of each treatment option.

If communication remains an issue, consider seeking a second opinion to ensure you are fully informed about your treatment choices.
