Do You Recommend Me Seeing A Different Dr
My dr is an Osteopathic Medicine D.O.
He completed this in 2022 hematology and oncology fellowship at Henry ford in Detroit published molecular outcomes and research
He’s in the scientific review committee and he’s in research for leukemia, myeloid and he’s an investigator for smoldering myeloma do you think he’s certified enough or should i just go to karmonos is in Detroit
Lady T, it is recommended that we see a myeloma specialist. They usually just see myeloma patients. You can keep your oncologist and see a specialist for treatment recommendations. I see my specialist every 6 months. I hope to go to yearly visits if I'm still good in November🥰
Sounds like your doctor has great credentials. I would say if you feel comfortable with him to stick with him. If you compare treatments on this site you will see they are very similar. As long as your treatment is similar I would go with who you have confidence in. Best of luck! 🤗
Regular blood cancer doctors are good. But MM Specialist doctors who specialize only in MM are more knowledgeable
Lady T, most of the time it is recommended that along with a local oncologist you should be seeing a specialist. The specialist usually sees nothing but MM patients while the local oncologist sees MM patients only very occasionally if at all. My local doctor is very good but has not seen very MM patients in his twenty five years of practice where my specialist works at a cancer hospital in the MM unit so that is all she treats. They talk back and forth about my care.
My oncologist is a Hematologist (Blood Doctor) with years of experience. Her husband is also a Hematologist, and does MM research. So, she’s up on the latest treatments.
