Kelly,
MM Oncology Specialists look at all the numbers and refer to a certain criteria (Durie-Salmon staging), which you should be able to find on the MMRF.org website or the International Myeloma Foundation (Myeloma.org) They have phone numbers to call to talk to someone, which I found helpful. Diagnosis requires over 10% clinal bone marrow plasma cells or one or more MM defining events: CRAB (Hypercalcemia, renal failure, anemia, or lyric lesions.) Presence of translocations, deletions and additions of the genes, affect the decision on whether he has low, medium or high risk MM. Without a bone marrow biopsy, you won’t know what genes are changed. You need to ask for one. When creatine gets greater than 2 mg is a criteria too. Is your husband seeing a regular Oncologist or one which Specializes in MM? This is really important. He needs to be drinking lots of water for his kidneys to function and stay away from sugar. Eating a diet high in vegetables, fruit and nuts has helped me.

Kelly,
theMMRF.org has lots of information about testing and normal ranges. In MM white blood cells and red blood cell counts may be lower. There may be an M spike. If Creatine is high, or eGFR is low, it may be affecting kidneys. Of course, there are many other numbers involved. Has your husband had a bone marrow biopsy, so you know what type he has? When I was first diagnosed, I just started Googling everything about my type and every test that was out of range and what it meant. I highly recommend Dr Brandy’s book “Beating Back Cancer Naturally “. Diet, supplements and exercise plan a huge role in preventing progression.

Unfortunately, the chart came out blurry on my end. That's okay. Go see a Ocologist who Specializes in MM.
