Multiple myeloma itself primarily affects the bone marrow and does not directly cause arteries in the heart to clot. However, individuals with multiple myeloma may have an increased risk of arterial thrombosis (AT), which refers to blood clots in the arteries. This can potentially lead to blockages affecting major organs, including the heart. This increased risk of arterial thrombosis in myeloma patients is often a result of the hypercoagulable state associated with the disease, where the blood becomes extra sticky and prone to clotting.
