On Maintenance With Lots Of Aches And Pains

I'm on maintenance (Revlimid and Dara) and with alot of aches/pains. Are others experiencing this? If so, what do you do to give yourself some relief?

I’m on maintenance Darzalex FasPro every four weeks and have been since mid-2020. I do not take dexamethasone any longer because it was making me crazy, so my doctor said I don’t really need it anymore. I cannot take Revlimid because it caused severe heart issues for me. Dara alone has kept me in remission with steady numbers. The one thing that helped me with bone pain is Zyrtec (or Claritin) daily. I had the most severe bone pain before, during, and after my stem cell transplant. I started Claritin then and have never stopped. I take calcium and I also get an Xgeva shot every three months. I get aches, but not severe pain.

If ANY of your pain is new, be sure and discuss it with your doctor. If your oncologist is not an MM specialist, you should look into getting one. I have a regular oncologist who is local, but I also have an MM specialist that I see every three months. I have much more confidence in him and my oncologist also consults with him. The specialists know more about the nuances of MM, whereas the oncologists will often dismiss our complaints because they just don’t know about all the possible side effects and symptoms. I hope this helps you.

Clara,
Calcium supplements can help with pain and bone pain. I take 1200 mg of Calcium with Magnesium (MRM Bone Maximizer III) and D3 & K2 for absorption. When my ribs start hurting, I know I’m low on Calcium. No more cramping either.

Yes, aches and pains all the time.
If you have real increased pain, talk to doctor. I kept complaining about abdominal pain and it turned out the MM relapsed creating a lytic lesion on my rib. Yet, my blood, urine and bone marrow were normal. It was from doing Cat scan then Pet Scan showed it.MM is unpredictable and everyone has different side effects.

Oh, BTW, I neglected to tell you that I was on a good amount of oxycontin and oxycodone for four years. I tapered off of it when I thought it no longer necessary (a difficult thing to do). What I do remember when I was using pain relievers was that you have to stay front of the pain with your meds as catching up after thebpain starts is hell. Good luck
