+33 Days After SCT And Hemoglobin Drop In To 67g/L?
Had no bloody diarrhea or bleeding from anywhere. Had anyone experienced such a drop of the HGB in this period after SCT? My platelets are good. Got traditional neusea and diarrhea /definitely not severe/ after I came home. But I have no power and I'm very sleepy. Doctors will check for hidden GI bleeding and I'm going to hospital for blood transfusion tomorrow.
14 days post SCT my HgB went to 7.0. They wanted to discharge me so they gave me 1 unit PRBC and that took me to 9.0 2 days later. The engraftment process fluctuates a lot. A drop +33 days seems a bit late but nothing to be worried about. Hopefully the transfusion will prime the engine and you will improving daily.
A drop in hemoglobin to 67 g/L (6.7 g/dL) after a stem cell transplant (SCT) for multiple myeloma is concerning but not uncommon. This condition, known as anemia, can occur due to the aggressive conditioning treatments used during SCT, which lower the number of healthy blood cells. My was 10.2 when discharged from hospital. Now 6.7 is too low 33 days after SCT. They suspect bleeding from somewhere...
