After a treatment my Dr said you’re stable and he got Mayo Clinic to set me up.
I remember they didn’t want to do it too quickly and there’s a ton of tests before they do the transplant. I was done with induction in April. I had all the testing, the stem cells harvested and I got my SCT 06-02-2021.

Karen, it also depends on your genetic alterations. Some patients with standard risk myeloma are getting to MRD negativity with induction. They are able to forgo a transplant and go straight to maintenance. A question for your doctor.

Karen I think he started about a week later. He had developed a blot clot so the sct was delayed a month.

The timing of a stem cell transplant (SCT) after induction therapy can vary. Typically, after completing induction therapy, patients undergo a period of preparation before the transplant. This preparation includes:

- Conditioning Treatment: This usually involves high doses of chemotherapy, such as Alkeran (melphalan), to destroy most of the myeloma cells and make room for new stem cells in the bone marrow. This process can take one to two weeks.
- Stem Cell Collection: For autologous transplants, stem cells are collected from the patient, which can take three to four hours and may need to be repeated for up to five days.

After these steps, the actual transplant can proceed. The entire process from induction to transplant can take several weeks to a few months, depending on individual circumstances and recovery rates.
