When the Melphalan kicks in (day 5, 6, 7):
Nausea
Vomiting
Lightheaded
Dizzy
Fatigue
Diarrhea
Weakness
Taste sucks
Hair loss

Don’t expect outside food to taste good. It’s not just the hospital food. You’ll know it’s bad when vanilla Ensure tastes good!

Your WBC will go to zero. That means you’re in the middle of the wormhole. Enjoy the staycation!

- Dietary changes may be necessary, such as eating more protein and limiting certain nutrients.
- Risks include infection or clotting of the access device.

- Peritoneal Dialysis:
- Can be done at home, either during the day (CAPD) or overnight (CCPD/APD).
- Requires minor surgery to place a tube in the abdomen.
- Risks include peritonitis, a serious infection of the peritoneum.
