Has Anyone Noticed Their Hand Strength Weaker Then Before Starting MM Treatments?
I’m having some issues opening jars and water bottles sometimes, the good thing I can still grip a glass to drink but I’m wondering if there’s exercises to strengthen or is it something else?
Planet Fitness is free to Seniors with Silver Sneakers or similar. In June 2022, after 7 months of Treatment and ending up in a walker and transport chair, I stumbled in (quite unstable on my feet) and spent 3 months, 7 days a week rebuilding myself.
It's continued to take time but I've regained everything and more. At 71, I'm lifting 38lb bags of bottled water (we only drink reverse osmosis water - 36 bottles from Wegmans in a pack) and I'm back to hitting 200+ yard drives at TopGolf - spending 2 to 3 hours, 3+ days a week.
We can fight back and regain our strength but it takes a real effort and it's totally worth it.

It would be easier if I do stop the Ritalin orders. Being a controller Med, I had to get an order through my GP every month and I had to check that my Walgreens had the inventory - every month, it was an effort for both of them.
If I do continue, I'll get the 10mg 3x daily, cut them in half and take 2 @ 5mg daily - making one month's order last 90 days. Due to the Med, they can not prescribe more than a month at a time but this would stretch it to 3 months between orders.
It's my preference to find Natural Supplements and/or Foods, even though they'll cost me Out-of-Pocket, vs the generic Ritalin is covered by my Medicare & Supplemental.
When I was taking oxycodone, the Ritalin was extremely helpful. I suspect, as I "Work-the-Problem", I'll end up just fine without the Ritalin.
There's some additional Supplements - L-Tyrosine, which is a Precursor to Dopamine and L-Tryptophan, which is a Precursor to Serotonin. Not sure if I'm going to try these but they may prove to be helpful as well.
My whole life, I was never taking prescription Meds except for a very infrequent sinus/respiratory infection. It's taken 3 years but it's looking like I'll be able to get back to that mode, just like before.
@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
Work on the farm probably gives you lots of exercise.

Yes, Larry is like the energizer bunny now, he just keeps on going. I have been looking into planet fitness here, it’s a drive but it might be worth it…thanks for the info…I couldn’t hit a gold ball at 30 much less 60 lol good larry can do that…slow and steady wins the race.
I'm 60 and yes I too am having issues with both hands. But I have been diagnosed with OA in my hands rt knee and back since 2022. I struggle with sealed on top, like bleach, mayonnaise. I like a clean removal process.
