Yes, I get an itchy scalp from Pomalyst. I take Pomalyst at 5 pm. I have to wash my hair a few hours later or I can sleep. I use a mild shampoo

Itchy skin, including a red itchy scalp, can be a side effect of multiple myeloma treatments, including Pomalyst (pomalidomide). Here are some steps you can take:

- Consult Your Healthcare Team: It's important to talk to your oncology team or dermatologist to determine the best way to manage and find relief from itching.
- Topical Steroid Creams: These can help delay or prevent skin changes that lead to itching. Use them short-term and in small areas to avoid side effects.
- Moisturizing: Keep your skin moisturized to prevent or reduce itching. Use fragrance-free moisturizers and apply them at least twice daily.
- Antihistamines: Over-the-counter antihistamines like Claritin or Benadryl may help manage itching.

For more details, you can visit the Pomalyst page on MyMyelomaTeam or consult your healthcare provider.

Good idea. The itching finally settled down after a week. Yay!

I get an itchy red scalp from taking Pom, usually after the 3rd day of starting a new cycle. What I now do is skip the 3rd or 4th day dose to let the rash settle down and that seems to help. I’m only missing 1 pill in the cycle which the doctor seems ok with.

I always remember a nursing instructor I had. She told us that severe itching can be as bad as as severe pain. I believe her now. 😥
