What Is The Longest Time It Can Take To Start Responding To Daratumumab?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just had my first follow-up for my Daratumumab treatment (based on bloods taken at 3/4 weeks and am disappointed that I haven’t started responding yet. I am in complete remission but the doctor is using the Dara to get me into MRD negativity. My light chains are still abnormal and at the levels of MGUS. Can anyone say that they took longer to start responding? I am extremely worried about drug resistant clones…

Hi Kate. I also have light chain mm. Am in partial remission with traces of light chains. Daratumamab has worked for me added with small dose of dexamethazone. My results with Dara were pretty quick. Have been on it for 5 years with few side effects

I am already taking it with lenalidomide and dex. Was on VRD before, and the doctor might add the Velcade back in if she feels it will make a difference 😕

Thank you for always answering my questions. I appreciate it. No M-protein, but high sFLC ratio. I’ve also read that abnormal light chains indicate a less than complete remission in light chain myeloma, and am terrified of relapsing early, especially given my young age 😭. These remaining light chains are so stubborn, and have not responded to cyclophosphamide. This is why the doctor started me on Dara. Praying with all my might that it does the trick to normalise my light chains!! The only good thing, I suppose, is that I have no high risk genes.
