Do Lesions Heal Up Once You Go Into Remission?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Christiana, PA

When they did all the testing that I had so many lesions on my chest and my skull that they couldn’t count them. I never remember to ask if the lesions heal

One year ago this month I was diagnosed with MM. I broke 5 ribs after a trip the scans showed lesions throughout my body and skull, I lost 50% of my hip and a compression fracture in my lower spine plus losing 90% of my bone marrow. I got Sepsis twice, once as septic shock with cardiac arrest and Covid twice, once hospitalised.
One year on I visited the orthopaedic consultant yesterday and we have agreed to continue to monitor my bone situation (which is great). My bone marrow is 50% which is about average for my age.
I am in remission!!
This month I came off Fentanyl (scary) and every week/month something starts working again.
I’m not interested in life expectancy (my driving will decide that!) and just amazed to be alive.
Stay strong. Stay positive. Protect your loved ones. This is just another step on our life cycle.
Regards
Bob

Hey, Maynard. I just went to Healthtree.org. Put bone lesions. There is a great video there. The doctor explains the difference between focal and lytic lesion. It will answer your questions. The lesions continue to show up on X ray. But bisphosphonates can help prevent new fractures. 💕😉
