Kappa Light Chains- Anyone Else Have This As Their Only Sign Of MM?
I was diagnosed in September of 2020, had 5 months of triple drug treatments where I found out I was horribly allergic to Revlimid and came to hate Dexamethasone, had an ASCT in March of 2021 and at 100 days was found to be in very good partial remission. I have since been on Velcade every 2 weeks. The only lab test that shows anything is Kappa and Lambda light chains, all my other tests come back normal. Light chain multiple myeloma can be diagnosed when there is a much higher level of kappa chains compared to lambda chains, or vice versa. This is detected through a blood test called the serum free light chain assay. In some cases, the overproduction of kappa light chains can be the primary indicator of the disease.
July 2022 was the last time mine were checked. I have MGUS. My value was 25.22 mg/L. Of course my ratio is high too at 2.65. My doctor did not seem to think it was bad. Bad Kappa, Free Light Chain is over 100.
