I’m Interested In Getting Some Responses From People Who Have Had A Rod Put In Their Back Because Of The Broken Vertebrae.
Do you have any regrets, would you do it again or not? How long was the recovery time? Did it alleviate the back pain?
I have 4 titanium rods. It was a long recovery but it was my only option in 2014. I'm ok with it now. The meds were rough to get off of. When I look back at it, all I keep thinking is wow, I did it. After 6 years of navigating through all of it my aches and pains are more Mm related. When my vertebrae broke I was driving to emergency with excruciating pain, didn't even know I had stage 4 cancer, so everything from that point on was emergency fix it mode. I'm still here walking, napping and doing more household chores than I ever thought I would. Also I'm an Artist so I'm able to create as much as I want and that keeps me motivated and moving around. I rest when tried, naps lots of naps.
Ty for sharing. My husband's doctor is recommending the procedure due to a relatively new fracture.
I also have had 2 Kyphoplasty procedures in the past 2 months (post MM diagnosis). It’s been life changing! My back degraded fast, prior to first procedure in October, back pain had me in a wheel chair. I was up walking the next day. After 2 procedures (fixed 3 vertebrae total) I’m most pain free and back to full mobility. If Kyphoplasty is an option for you, please consider it!
I had 2 Kyphoplasty back surgeries before my MM diagnosis. I don’t know if it helped or hurt. The 2nd surgery decided on the MM diagnosis. I’m sure I had MM for a long time before any doctor “connected the dots”.
