Any one had this problem. My Dr says will monitor it. I’m uneasy about this.

I had an m spike of 0.4 after one of the Covid vaccines. Then I had a couple of 0.2 readings. This has happened over the 7 years I've been in treatment. My bone marrow is still mrd positive, but the numbers are stable and going in the right direction. As long as my light chains and other labs look good, I'm trying not to freak out too much. I know we all just want it to go away and stay away.

Same thing for me -- my M spike reappeared in 2022 after 11 years of normal bloodwork. I've also been on watch and wait since 2/2022 -- M spike is still 0.2, no changes in that number which coincidently happened when the lab changed during that same month. Due to the length of time, my doc requested a bone marrow biopsy last summer which found a few wayward myeloma cells in one of the core samples, but nothing of any real substance. We also sent the results to OHSU, where my MM specialist is for their input and she took it to the Tumor Board -- they are still recommending watch/wait. I get treatment at Kadlec/TriCities Cancer Center.

It's understandable to feel uneasy. An active M spike can indicate changes in your myeloma activity, even if other blood work looks good. Monitoring is a common approach, as not all changes require immediate treatment. Your doctor may track M protein levels over time to assess trends. If you're concerned, consider asking about additional tests like serum-free light chains or imaging to clarify the situation. Open communication with your doctor is key.
