Please Share Experience If You Haven’t Taken Off Revlimid Maintenance Completely.

I have been ill quite often since my STC Transplant in February of 2022. I will continue to go for IVIG infusions every two weeks with the hopes of rebuilding my immune system.

In my mind, I almost feel like the decision was to continue to fight MM, or stop being hospitalized with pneumonia and other infections.

Obviously, I want to feel better and I’m hoping this is the right course for me. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience of being taken off Maintenance. Please share… read more

Unfortunately the SCT has been very damaging to your immune system. The IgIV provides a temporary boost to your immune response but it does not add to your own immunity. The SCT completely removed your life time of gained immunities. This is why they need to have you get your childhood shots again.

It’s going to take time, probably years for your Ig levels (your immune system) to rebuild from exposure and recovery from new infections that you experience.

Get your Natural Killer Cells tested. They’re your innate immunity. The lower they are then 10%, the less you’re capable to fight infections. While your Natural Killer Cells remain low, it’s important to continue with IgIVs, which provide temporary immunity. It’s important to keep your IgIV at 500mg/dl (I believe that’s the scale) or higher

I was taken off Revlimed shortly after my SCT (2016) because I was getting severe neuropathy.
The good news is that my MM numbers have been great.
I am dealing with a lot of bone damage in my spine (from the MM) and a bout with a new even rarer cancer called Angiosarcoma.

Thanks Donna. I hope you’re feeling better, as I know you’ve been through so much.

I’ve had so many infections and hospitalizations that have required the use of vancomycin and meropenem. The hope is that my continued IVIG treatments every two weeks maybe more effective with ceasing revlimid. Since I am tested every two weeks, we can closely monitor the situation.

After discussions with docs, I made the decision with the hope I feel better and avoid pnemonia every few months.

Thanks again and I do hope you’re feeling better.
