Is Anybody On Medications For NT-proBNP, High Pressures In The Heart?

Well, I don't take the Lasix daily anymore (as it was prescribed) unless I just feel like I need it in addition to the spironolactone. Although I know both are diuretics, Lasix is stronger and I am constantly having to go to the bathroom. Spironolactone has a milder effect in that regard where it's more manageable.

But both of them do tend to lower my blood pressure, along with the beta blockers I take for my heart arrhythmias, so I have to be careful of that. I am also on blood thinners due to past DVT/PE (deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary emboli) and AFib, so I definitely don't want to fall or faint from low BP!

Other than the above, I really haven't noticed any other side effects.

My doctors did urge me to stay well hydrated (common sense), but also to try an limit liquids to 32oz., especially on "bad" days with edema, so that is a fine line to draw because I enjoy my water and unsweetened iced tea!

The problem with these meds is that they lower blood pressure. My blood pressure will increase, 150-160/90 when I get my chemo and steroids. However, it goes to normal 115-120/70 in between chemo sessions. So, it may go too low on the meds, and make me faint. I know, that the high pressures in my heart are caused by my chemo. I’m just wondering, if switching to a different chemo regimen would lower that. I’ll have to ask my oncologist.

I’m wondering if you can take a lower dose depending on your treatment, then a higher dose when treatment has stopped? My medication strength has changed to a lowers dose as my heart condition changed. I just don’t know if this can be done -changing strengths on a weekly basis. You can ask your Cardiologist. I would also start looking at your diets. I added lots of berries to my diet.

Robert,
Before I got Cushing’s from a high corticosteroid my blood pressure was always 98/60. I never fainted.
