Hi Ron,
My mother who had 30 chemo treatments for ovarian cancer never got neuropathy. It’s because she took Nutritional yeast in her drinks all day long. She would put a heaping teaspoon into her apple juice or orange juice. Or she would make “Tiger’s milk” which is milk, nutritional yeast and unsulphered blackstrap molasses. Nutritional helps protect your nerves.

Peripheral neuropathy is a common and sometimes debilitating complication of multiple myeloma. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- Symptoms: Neuropathy can cause numbness, tingling, weakness, and pain in the feet, hands, or legs. Some describe it as a "burning, tingling, numbness" or "standing in coal and fire."

- Causes:
- Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN): Often caused by treatments like Velcade (Bortezomib).
- Myeloma itself: The disease can also directly cause nerve pain, numbness, and tingling.

- Impact on Life:
- Difficulty in walking, driving, or sleeping.
- Some people may become less active or even housebound due to the severity of symptoms.

- Management:
- Medications: Antidepressants and anticonvulsants are commonly used.
- Safety Tips: Using potholders when cooking and checking water temperature with a thermometer to avoid burns or cuts.
- Adjusting Treatment: Lowering the dosage of chemotherapy can sometimes help reduce symptoms.

- Prognosis: Neuropathy may improve after treatment ends, but for some, it can persist for years or may never fully go away.
