For Osteopenia Should I Have Reclast Infusion? Would Much Appreciate Hearing From Folks Who Have Had This Type Of Infusion. Thank You

Bloomington, IN

I (72 year old male) have had Osteopenia for years. I've been avoiding being treated for it. I just recently had my numbers cross into MM territory. Previous 5 years was monitored with MGUS. Numbers are just high enough to barely getting into MM range. One of the most common symptoms with MM is bone pain. With Reclast infusion one of the many possible side effects is bone pain as well as a few other possible negative side effects.

I am receiving Prolia. I was curious to know the differences between Prolia and Reclast. My side effects from Prolia included bone pain just slightly in my jaw and my elbow and my back which lasted for about a half an hour after I received the injection and that is it. Hope this is helpful https://www.drugs.com/medical-answers/differenc...

Jim,
K2 tells the calcium to go to your bones. D3 helps you to absorb it. D3 also helps your immune system.

I have been taking supplements for quite some time. Although not the magnesium or K2. I have asked for guidance on the magnesium but was told it was checked periodically by the lab test
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Jim,
Have you tried supplements? I refused treatment for my osteoporosis because of the side effects. I am taking 1200 mg of Calcium with Magnesium and D3 & K2. It’s working! I was supposed to start treatment in 2019. You can only be on this type of treatment for 2 years. It’s now 2024 and I’m doing great.
