When abnormal protein band is not detected, what does that mean?

Mine did as well...I went from a plasmacytoma which was radiated and "killed" to light chain Kappa MM in a little over 15 months. This surprised the H/O. Now I'm in remission and my numbers look great...praying they stay that way!

Depends when you see or get that description.
You could be in remission; you could be relapsing with a new clone that is non-secretory. Next is look at your light chain numbers.

OH well, I hope your anniversary celebration wasn't totally ruined.
But here we are, right?
From diagnosis till now, no abnormal protein dectected. I just don't get it. I can't wait till Sept. because I'm so full of questions for my oncologist. He isn't my original oncologist, so he just inherited me and my ....stuff. BUT I did the treatments, I have side effects, and maybe something else has crept in. I still want to know what is going on with me. Anyway, what they say about , the past realizations are too late for the present and limited, moving forward......or something like that.

Not entirely sure but mine said Reference Range: None Detected which I think means “you better be zero in this test or you got big problems!”

In other words there should be nothing abnormal about you!

In my case October 29, 2022 (what a way to spend your anniversary at the blood depot) my Abnormal Protein Band 1 showed a screaming 2.3

You’ll notice in fine print “M-spike” and my primary could not read that on the text I sent him. He said for me to read it out loud. When I did the famous words were spoken, “M-spike? I think you have multiple myeloma AND THATS GOOD because it’s treatable!”

The rest is history!

My oncologist said it means your M-Spike is zero. The two numbers added together equal your M-Spike. On my test report, if the two protein bands equal zero, they simply don't show up on the report; there is no mention at all of an abnormal protein band.
