With the current treatments this translocation is treatable. It depends whether or not you have other high risk genetics like 17p deletion, T53 double deletion or 13q.
Talk to your MM Specialist about this. A good resource is healthtree.org under Education. Also, you can sign up for a patient Coach who can answer many of your questions.

A t(14;16) mutation in multiple myeloma is indeed considered a high-risk cytogenetic feature. This means that the presence of this mutation can make the myeloma more resistant to treatment and may affect the overall prognosis. Here are some key points:

- High-Risk Cytogenetic Features: Certain gene changes, like t(14;16), are known to impact how well the myeloma responds to therapies.
- Impact on Treatment: These mutations can make the cancer more resistant to standard treatments, potentially leading to a shorter median overall survival.
- Personalized Treatment Plans: Oncologists often use the presence of such mutations to tailor treatment plans specifically to the patient's needs.

It's important to discuss your specific case with your oncologist, who can provide more personalized information and guidance.
