Questions About Labs

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Got a call from my oncologists office Friday afternoon. About labs. The nurse informs me to mask up in public at all times and to be extremely careful with knives. Somehow, I wasn’t expecting this. Coulda been lots worse. Seems Revlimid is causing issues with my blood counts rather quickly. Started back up 6 days ago. White count went from 2.6 to 2.3 pretty quick. Now I’m on weekly cbc. Currently on Rev 10mg for 21 days and 7 off. Was 28 days on for the previous 2 months. Is there another drug… read more

I have been on Pomalyst 2 MG since 2017. Never had trouble with my labs. It was on hold when I had a bad appendix. I just watched a webinar with Dr. Costa, he said the dosage of Revlimid doesn't matter?? So, a lower dosage is fine.

There is a drug similar to Revlimid. Its called Pomalyst. I am currently on it and was prescribed it by my doctor as a replacement to Revlimid. I could not tolerate the Rev side effects. I am responding well with the Pomalyst.
Ask your doctor if it's an option for you. You've been through a lot. I sure hope they can find something that works for you.
That's what I'm starting to discover. Everyone has to go through some hit and miss until they find something that works for them.
Good luck Sharon.

Hi Sharon, what were your platelets?? They might have to lower your Revlimid dose if your numbers stay low. Having to have Revlimid dose adjustment is very common. There are a couple of drugs similar to Revlimid. But I personally would want to get as much mileage out of Revlimid as possible.

After SCT, he started me on a continuous 28 days. Counts started dropping after 2 months. During induction it was rev 25, 21 days on and 7 off. It had to be lowered to 20mg cause my counts were dropping.

I’ve not heard of continuous Revlimid dosage. During induction I was 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Now maintenance is 21/7. It drives platelets low. I go to 83 on Revlimid so going off gives your body a chance to recoup.
