Just a thought...do whatever it takes to keep yourself comfortable and without fear. I am having my third biopsy tomorrow and for the third time I will be put out. I don't care if I have to argue with the doctors to have this happen. I am the one who is having the procedure done, not them.

Versed is a very powerful sedative, aka 'milk of amnesia'. They use it before surgery to help people relax. I believe it's what Michael Jackson had. I personally didn't want to take it anymore for a procedure that lasted less than 5 minutes. It made me groggy for the rest of the day. You could ask your doctor about it. I took a Xanax before my biopsies to help me relax. Like I said, fear was a big part of my pain. Having a good provider talk me through was most important. Also, my veins are shot, so having to have IV access wasn't fun either.

thanks Donna! what is Versed? Is that what put you out?

I had Fentanyl and Versed for my first 4 biopsies. I was 'out'. The last two biopsies, I had Lidocaine outside the bone and inside the bone. The provider waits for it to take effect. She talks me through it. Now that I know what to expect, I am no longer afraid. Having a very experienced person doing the biopsy sure helps.
