Hello! I Have Been Referred To Hematologist/oncologist For An M Spike. What Should I Expect With The First Appointment?
My test results from my lab states that I have monoclonal spike in the beta region IFE get pattern shows an IgG type lambda monoclonal protein. Can anyone tell me what the normal protocol is from there? Thanks!
This site also has a list of 40 Questions to ask your doctor.
Amy,
theMMRF.org and HealthTree have charts to keep track of your blood test results and they tell you want it means.
Your doctor will review those results with you & tell you if you are in the normal range or out of range & what steps the Dr thinks you need to take.
My Doctor always used my M-Spike as his guiding light. If you have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, your M-Spike will be elevated, but at what degree, your Dr will share with you. You should get a copy of the results so you can track your progress. If you have a portal, be sure to set up your own patient portal so you can go to your portal & see your results on line, plus other reports you may want to look at as they become available. It is always fun to see your progress!
If your doc has electronic records you should be able to login to your account and view the info he/she gets from tests etc. Ask them if they have a portal you can sign into.
