Chemo Between Harvesting And SCT?
I made my harvesting and I'm wainting for date for SCT. Probably there will be a month or more waiting time. Should I do 1 more cycle chemo in this time or no meds is better?
I had my SCT a little over a month after my last treatment. I don't think the wait should be a problem. It was also nice to clear up some chemo side effects before the SCT.
Good luck with your SCT and I'll pray for a complete success.
I agree: Eat hearty; and get some exercise. The stronger you are going in the better. Don't wear yourself out, of course. They will want you to walk each day during your hospital stay. You want to stay as strong as you can. Also, eat your meals during your hospital stay and the weeks following. You may not feel like eating, but eat some, even if only a little at each meal. Again, you want to stay as strong as possible. If there is a gym in the hospital, you might want to visit it every day. There should be a physical therapist there who can guide you. Ask about the gym.
My SCT was very successful, eight years ago. I still doing well on maintenance treatment (Ninlaro and Dexamethazone). Actually, it's the first level treatment for relapsed/refractory myeloma. But I'm doing very well.
I received my last chemotherapy session exactly a year ago! 02/16/23 and my SCT was a month after that on 03/26/23. Whole month of testing and getting ready for it. Nothing happens, your oncologist knows when to stop it...you got this! 💚
I had my SCT about 8 months ago and as in Ripnlip's case, there was about a month of no treatments in between. May I suggest you put on the old feed bag during this time to compensate for your loss of appetite during the SCT. God Bless 🙏
I went about a month with no treatment. They do want your blood to recover some from prior treatment.
