Root Cause Of Multiple Myeloma?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

How many of us think about the root cause of this worldwide disease? Is it caused by environmental factors, or viruses, or diet, DNA mutations or stress? Although experts say that genetic MM mutations are acquired and not inherited, family history is a known risk as we’ve read from many stories from our teammate’s family members also having MM. Genderwise: Men are slightly more likely to develop myeloma than women. Racewise: Black people are twice as likely to develop myeloma than white people… read more

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member Actually it would help tremendously knowing what causes it or predisposes a person to getting it, or if it's genetic based, so the doctors and researchers could work on a cure and prevention.

It's extremely unfortunate that people get it, but as you said, just trying to live your best life is a great inspiration to all!🕊️🙏

I don’t think Covid vaccine has anything to do with MM . I was in PHILADELPHIA for two weeks after doing my chemo. The day before I left they handed out letters to all patients stating they just admitted their first Covid patients So I had MM before the vaccines came out. I have had all the Covid vaccines afterwards. Michelle I have seen where some people had one family member had MM . But haven’t heard anyone that had three family members how had MM . Take Care and Keep praying for a cure in our lifetime. Emma

Glycosate is that what they spray on wheat? I do try to get organic bread and pasta. Mostly I try not to eat them at all.

I love you Donna. Hahaha. It’s hard to believe I’m so upbeat even with this disease but I’m grateful to be alive and thriving now. We are on top of the world and this is the proverbial speed bump. Life has not changed that much for me or my family so that’s a blessing. I am extremely content and on this beautiful day it’s nice to look out my window. (PS. My wife wanted a “water view,” so she got this.

What amazes me is that the testing for multiple myeloma takes quite a while to really know if you actually have it or not. I know for me it took 3 months to finally diagnose me with multiple myeloma.
