Feeling Off Balance When Walking

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Has anyone ever felt this? I just wrapped up month four of my induction meds ( dara, revlimid, DeX and Velcade). I have been off them for two weeks for harvesting stem
Cells. The past week when walking though I feel slightly off balance which makes me feel a little dizzy. I’m not sure if it’s from stress and anxiety or meds or MM. Anyone ever have this?

Totally normal - most of our meds cause dizziness. 😞 I am almost off Lyrica - needed to wean gradually - and now my balance has returned! πŸ‘ŠπŸ»
At the end of July I will go off Valacyclovir too - the less meds we take the better it is I think…
Praying for youβ€¦πŸ™πŸ»

Hey, Linda295, I describe the "dizziness" as "wooziness" too! Because it is different than dizzy, but hard to describe. I was very blonde when I was younger, so my husband calls me a dizzy blonde! The only time he gets away with that sexist statement!!! But yes, Woozy is a good description.

I was taking Darzalex and Rev when I jumped out of bed to head to the bathroom and got dizzy and fell. My husband tried to help me up and broke my collar bone. I will be darned if I didn't do it again the next night! But that time I got dizzy and then tripped. SO, my PT showed me how to get up from the floor when I got dizzy but stressed that you should sit up and wait until your blood pressure stabilizes before getting to your feet. Then stand for a few moments before taking off again. They also recommended to use a cane, just for balance. I took time off of the stuff but still had times I felt woozy but not as bad. I have started back on Darzalex and some of the wooziness has come back but I am more careful, walk slower, and sometimes use a walker to lean on if I am going a long way. I do think it may be the meds but you just have to get used to it and learn to do things differently. The stuff makes us a little handicapped and certainly makes me feel older than I wish it did. But such is life. I concentrate on what I CAN do and that makes things much happier.

I have to use a cane off and on when I get dizzy. It's more of a "woozy" feeling than dizzy. It seems to be right after my treatments for about a week. I get Darzalex every four weeks.

Thank you! Was it Mm related or the meds? Did it go away?
