Has Anyone Had Vision Problems Since Being Diagnosed With MM?

My close-up vision has gotten pretty bad. I have a cataract, so corrective lenses don't really help. I would have to just use the one unaffected eye. I read that vision can get better but it may take a long time......if at all.

Greetings from Alaska this is day four after cataract surgery my sight was getting to be pretty bad. I had prisms around all lights. I’ve been off of treatment for a month to get surgery done the next time it’ll be the right eye, but that won’t be until the end of October or November. The doctor said it was really bad and I am sure the Velcade dexamethasone and Revlimid, as well as the high-dose melphalan that I had before my SCT are the cause. I’m also suffering with extremely dry eyes so that’s been an issue. I ended up with scratch on my cornea. Boy do we have a lot of issues we have to pay attention too. The best part of this I won’t have to pay $500 anymore for eyeglasses that makes me happy.

I had cataract surgery on my left eye in December of 2020. Diagnosed with MM August 2020. I drive tractor trailers for big employer. For 9 months my other eye getting blurry. Waiting list for cataract surgery was 5 months. So was driving with one eye closed to get clear vision. Worked but would not do again. Nighttime was the worst. Well finally had right eye cataract surgery. My Doctor said old lense was really bad. So after healing, my vision now 2020!!!!! Yeah . Just need reading glasses for up close. I really believe this is due to my steroids Revlamid, dexamethasone, Ninlaro. I’m 61.

Your information was great and I also have a cataract that is progressing and I don't try to drive anymore with the meds I am on alot of them make me sleepy and I don't dare try to drive. I will be going to my eye doctor in a month and he had recommended the surgery glad to know yours went so well.

I just found out I have cataracts at 61. My eye doc says that long term steroid use can cause them. I was on dexamethasone for a year and a half until I asked if I could go off of it.
