Why Is Multiple Myeloma So Hard To Diagnose And Why Does It Take So Many Different Tests To Actually Find It?
In my case it took many tests X-rays pet scans bone marrow biopsy aspiration blood tests urine tests which amounted to 5 months which by then I had stage 3.
Angie, it takes tests to ensure the accuracy of the diagnosis, especially since there’s a lot of different types of MM. plus they have to be sure exactly how much your disease has affected your plasma cells and if it has effected your kidneys or not.
Mine “smoldered” almost 5 years and than went crazy active. I have been on infusions, iron infusions, and blood transfusions. I go weekly for my precrete shot, then Kyeprolis infusion. I get this for 4 weeks. Also on the fourth week now they have also added my 4 1/2 hour treatment infusion of dexamethyson. I probably butchered that spelling !! Anyway, along with that I also get a bag of steroids, a bag of Benedryl, and a bag of saline and a diauretic to make me have torun to the lady’s room!!! Plus they give me acetaminophen before all of this. AND THIS IS TO KEEP ME IN THE REMISSION that my numbers and chart say that I am in. But it does what it is supposed to do.
I don’t know all of the answers, we are all traveling toward the same destination but each path is different. We can try to be the most helpful and supportive of each, sharing and trying to be positive. That we make the most of what may or may not be a long length of time is actually what is the most important issue to deal with. Make Memories With Those You Love. Take REAL Photos AND Put Them In An Album and GIVE IT TO YOUR Family. Time is short. Love lasts forever in the hearts that love you and the memories connected to the photos will prolong the memories.
I doubt if any of this has been of a great help. Please get a notebook and dedicate it to your questions for your oncologist to answer. Have someone go with you that can read the questions and write down the answers because you will forget what you need to find out.

Get to know everything you can about what you have. GET THE NAME AND TYPE of Multiple Myeloma that you have.
Keep a journal for as long as you possibly can. Write down your joys and your fears, write with happiness and write through tears. This will actually “free” your spirit. Or at least it has for me.
May God take away your problems and Bless you on this journey. “Teece”
God was with me. I got diagnosed very quickly by a very good oncologist. I hope you all continue to fight this disease and win.
I don’t understand either, why MM is so different from other cancer and there are many others types of treatment.
I have been in maintenance for about a year and feel no much pain and side effect that I think my MM is doing good under control. But my blood test report and my Pat scan result are not good enough all under the border line.My white and red blood, platelets, immunoglobulin are going down.
The doctor informed me that maybe I going to get a relapse and could change to other treatment. That l worried about, they will doing a Pat scan and blood test to see how the results show.
Now I can’t do anything about it and just to pray 🙏 that ask God to help me, make me the easy path for my way to overcome the problem.
I will do my prayers in the morning about 4 am and talk about my sickness and problems that I have been dealing with, 😭 cry out from my heart to relieve myself.
So my prayers will be answered??????
