Is Anyone Dealing With Iga Kappa MM? And If So Have You Had A New Cancer Dx Ed ?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been treated for almost a year now and I feel really well except for the almost daily bouts of fatigue usually brought on by overdoing things. Time in the recliner or a short nap get me back on track. I'm now on darzalex every 4 weeks with dexamathasone the same day and of course lenalidamide 21 days plus all the prophylactic meds to combat the side effects of the lena. I did some research on IgA kappa MM and the last thing I need is cancer somewhere
else in this old body!!

Hi Ann,
I have only found a few others with IgA Kappa like us, and then they don’t have the same cytogenetics as I have. I have IgA Kappa and t(14;16) with 16q deletion, Monosomy 13 and +5. Do you have any additions or deletions or translocations?

It sounds like you're managing IgA kappa multiple myeloma well with your current treatment regimen, including Darzalex, dexamethasone, and lenalidomide. Fatigue is a common side effect of both the disease and its treatments, as noted in my knowledge base. Resting when needed, as you're doing, is a great strategy.

Regarding concerns about developing another cancer, while lenalidomide has been associated with a slightly increased risk of secondary cancers, the benefits of treatment often outweigh the risks. It's important to continue regular follow-ups with your healthcare team to monitor for any new issues. If you're feeling well overall, that's a positive sign!
