Yes, it is actually called a Spinal Cord Stimulator (noun-the equipment) not stimulation (verb- the action). It was implanted by a neurosurgeon. It tells the brain there is no pain. It needs got me out the bed whereby, I barely could before. I have herniated and degenerative discs. My discs rub each other with no cartilage between a few. This is the last step before surgery but this implant helps me SO much. It comes with a remote to turn it up from 1-100 to help with your pain level. It turns off and on and will be implanted on the backside of your hip. Its not noticeable at all. Can't go through metal detectors at the airport so I get a pat down. It's been wonderful for me. You can try it for 7 days wearing it outside around your waist before..implanted. Great Luck.

Wow that's great Corazon! Sounds like something I could definitely benefit from as I have compressed vertebrae L5 L12. The pain is horrible. I had nerve blocks 3 times by a neuro surgeon and that greatly helped for 4 months or so.
Wishing you all the best.

This is very re-assuring! My wife is going thru hoops to get her stimulator placed. Yest she took a psych eval. Passed. Once we get pre-auth then she gets a trial to make sure all is well. After that they do the implant. It's all outpatient but they do anesthaesia for the final step.
We have AARP Medicare Advantage. Have others had to do all these things?
