If your oncologist is not ordering necessary X-rays, imaging, or scans for your multiple myeloma, here are some steps you can take based on the knowledge base:

- Ask Specific Questions: Prepare a list of questions to ask your oncologist. For example:
- Why are imaging tests not part of my current treatment plan?
- How will we monitor the progression of myeloma without imaging?

- Discuss the Importance: Explain that imaging tests are crucial for diagnosing and monitoring multiple myeloma. They provide vital information about bone health, detect bone lesions, and help track the progress of the disease.

- Request Specific Tests: Mention specific imaging tests that are commonly used for multiple myeloma, such as:
- X-Rays: To check for bone damage, bone loss, or fractures.
- CT Scans: To get detailed cross-sectional images of bones and detect abnormalities.
- PET Scans: To identify active myeloma cells using a radiotracer.
- MRI: To determine the size of tumors and locate myeloma lesions in bones.

- Seek a Second Opinion: If your concerns are not addressed, consider seeking a second opinion from another oncologist who may be more proactive in using imaging tests for monitoring your condition.

- Engage with Support Communities: Join communities like MyMyelomaTeam to share your experience and get advice from others who might have faced similar issues.

By taking these steps, you can ensure that your treatment plan includes the necessary imaging tests to effectively monitor and manage your multiple myeloma.

I would have to find another one. You need an oncologist that is proactive and one that will be on top of your treatment plan. A great oncologist is of the essence. Your life depends on how good an oncologist is.

Christopher,
I would look for a mm specialist like I went to mdanderson in Houston plus I went to a local oncologist who also specializes in mm that way one could concur with the other one on my methods of treatment…
Research in internet where these oncologists are located close to you.
I also have a great video for you to listen to:
