Has multiple myeloma. Diabetes Type ll as well. Kidney Disease 3.

He has edema in lower legs and hands.

Maybe concern if not on diuretic fluid would be in lungs and heart. He pee 's more than a race horse. Is this quality of life?

How long were you on it? My mom lost 30 lbs in 3 days after a major surgery. It’s amazing how much water our bodies can retain. I remember seeing my newborn baby boy after he had heart surgery. His body was blown up like a balloon. Poor baby💔

I had congestive heart failure due to chemo. Gained 4 gals of fluid. Put me on lasix. But for too long and then had kidney failure. I would say lasix could contribute to kidney issues,

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
That would be great. Other than trying to drink water, take supplements, exercise and eat healthy, I’m not taking any MM medicines yet. Just my heart med. I was taking a high corticosteroid for a skin condition, and since my body does not metabolize drugs very well, it built up and caused Cushing’s. I am almost 6’ tall and almost always skinny. The Cushing’s pulls all the fat in the arms and legs and deposits it in your belly. I have significant pericardial fat pad present. Hence the heart disease and heart attack, I never should have gotten. Life has its twists and turns. We adjust. I just look like the guy in the Santa Clause movie whose stomach grew overnight. Or since I a female, I look pregnant overnight. It’s difficult when 3/4 of your wardrobe doesn’t fit anymore and never will. So did non-stop Lasix use cause the renal failure? I think I’m going to need a Nephrologist!

Tom,
I’m trying to preserve my heart and kidneys from damage, but if the drug doesn’t do it, it sounds like the MM will anyway. I’m going to wait and see.
