Loss Of Sleep Can Have A Significant Impact On Our Health And Well-being.
I am currently taking 20mg of dexamethasone every day as part of my maintenance drug regimen for my post-SCT. I can manage the blood sugar issue, but I am struggling with the lack of sleep. Do you have any tips on how to handle the sleeplessness caused by this medication? I anticipate being on this medication for an extended period.
Just a note, the prescription was written wrong, and only take dex once a week and they will review it in two cycles. I thought that it was bad and checked with the oncologist I read the notes and it was a mistake on the prescription
I have insomnia. I take 10 to 20 mg of Melatonin nightly. It helps me sleep. 🙏🤗💖
Fortunately my DeX load is just 1 day a week on infusion day. Does not sound as bad as Paul. I came down off them last night and was able to sleep w/o any aides. I refuse to take any narcotics.
On bad nights the 2mg of Atavan and anti-nausea is working. Add Melatonin on really bad nights. I also have a THC vape pen on standby.
Then worse case, I accept insomnia as part of treatment and fill the time productively.
What I really hate about the roides is the "rage". They do effect your mood.
But its the price I am going to pay for now for healing.
I take melatonin (5mg) about a half hour to an hour before I want to fall asleep.
Mark,
I would ask the doctor to give you tests to show it’s working against the cancer and not causing damage everywhere else. That’s a lot of Dex.
