Ruth,
I thought it was my Smoldering MM that was making me sleepy, it it was my heart. As soon as I started taking heart medicine, my energy level came back. I do nap now but I don’t sleep all day like I was then. Have your blood checked also. Anemia can cause this.

Are you experiencing constant sleepiness as a person with multiple myeloma? This could be related to several factors associated with your condition. Here are some points to consider:

1. Medication Side Effects: Some medications used in the treatment of multiple myeloma, such as steroids or other prescribed drugs, might contribute to sleep disturbances or excessive sleepiness.

2. Fatigue from Myeloma: Myeloma itself can cause extreme exhaustion, which might not only lead to increased sleep during the day but also disrupt your normal sleep patterns at night.

3. Management Strategies:
- Discuss with Your Doctor: It's important to talk to your healthcare provider about your sleep issues. They might adjust your medication or suggest other treatments.
- Good Sleep Hygiene: Establishing a routine that signals to your body it's time to sleep might help. This includes winding down activities before bed, keeping your sleeping environment cool and dark, and possibly using mindfulness techniques to relax.

4. Physical Activity: Light exercise, as recommended by your healthcare provider, might help regulate your sleep patterns and improve your overall energy levels.

If this sleepiness is affecting your daily life, it's crucial to address it with your healthcare team to find suitable management strategies.
