Could You Share Any Dietary Changes And Tips That Have Helped With Myeloma?
Ahh....sorry to tell you this Larry, but no. No on both comments. Yes MM meds can cause other cancers, this is documented, not hearsay. And yes if you are in remission, 99% of doctors will put you on Revlimid because that is the current clinical standard for maintenance treatment. Because MM is not curable as of yet, what they call Full Remission for MM is not Full remission like other cancers, it just means the levels are too low to detect, but rest assured MM is still there.
I was diagnosed in 2019 SMM. I had started plant-based whole food eating back in 2016. I tend to feel that had helped me Smolder longer (5 years) before full blown MM and has helped my response from treatment with VRD-Blenrep. No SCT. I've been in remission now 1 year and 9 months. Still MRD-.
Had gotten rid of GERD, heartburn, HBP, cholesterol medication and lost 30 lbs before diagnoses. DEX brought back the heartburn and GERD and put me in the hospital for 2 days with a bleeding esophagus.
Am now off ALL MM drugs and have been since going in remission. I take 6 grams of curcumin every night and have been since diagnosed. I take B12, Hemme Iron, D3, Magnesium and Calcium, and vitamin C supplements.

That's the way to go. Try to stay away from processed foods. I buy only grass fed beef and fresh veggies. It's hard to find chicken and pork without hormones but I'm lucky to live in a diverse area with Jewish and halal markets close buy. Try to limit unnatural sweeteners. The body doesn't process them the same as real sugars so they hang in the body longer...
I have done some research both with my doctor and on my own. I am not taking Revilimid and my doctor indicates it is not necessarily the standard protocol for multiple myeloma. I do think like some of the posters on this thread that the current protocols put this disease very close to a cure. I am on a low dose of treatment drugs, and my labs look great. I sometimes tire easily, but I’m getting stronger every day and exercising, which I think is key. I think it’s plausible that this disease can cause secondary cancers, but that’s true of any cancer diagnosis. In 2020 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I am a survivor and responded well to the treatment In 2020 & 2021. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2022 and there is no indication that the two cancers are related, but it is certainly possible. I refuse to sit around and worry about a third cancer diagnosis. I do wish this thread was a little more positive in the context of speculation about the future. I know everyone is different in their struggle with cancer and for those reading my comment, I wish you the best possible life.
Dietary changes? Yes! Please enjoy organic steamed vegetables, fruit, juices, stay hydrated with pure water, walk and encourage your heart and mind with faith filled books. Especially the Bible.
These are the helpful changes I implemented.
Much love.
